Do you think Sirius app is actually detecting your speed via GPS or something and disabling itself?? -Adjusts tin foil hat- I mean the fees are much higher in the car than on iPhone right? EDIT: Actually if it's $12/month that's about in line with car price. Ahem. (Still not taking off the hat!)

I like your tin foil hat curiosity. When I first tried, I was at a dead stop in the basement garage. Figuring that was the issue, I tried again in an outdoors parking lot, and it did not work. Fiddling with it while in transit was limited. (Since I want to clearly obey California traffic laws)

So, no, I can't say that it was detecting speed. (Even if I saw your edit)

Is there not a reasonable substitute station on Shoutcast or similar? Try the Fstream iPhone app (completely free) and you get every station on Shoutcast and iTunes. Works a treat for me in the car, although my personal favorites 977 the 80's channel and KCSM Bay Area Jazz might not be quite to your liking :-)

    slightly off-topic reply:

"some of my favorite DJs, including Paul van Dyk and Paul Oakenfold"

I have been reading your great blog for ages, never had any idea you were in to music like that - weird how I never took you for someone who listened to house.

    ha ha - nice one
