I once saw a nail file in the FDD of an Amiga!

Been there, done that. 1 quarter, and then 1 euro (whilst at LeWeb). Might be a good idea for us to slap some tape over open slots when traveling, eh?

I use a Be-Ez La Robe slip case for my MBP. It significantly decreases the chance of something like this, and most other minor damage, occurring. The Apple Store carries some http://store.apple.com/us/search?find=be-ez - you may find more/more interesting colour options from other retailers, check out Be-Ez's site: http://www.be-ez.com/

Had the same thing many years ago when a coin got jammed into the sync/charging slot of a PocketPC. Fortunately it only reset everything and I just lost a few files. These days my iPhone has a pocket all to itself.

Coins belong in a film canister (assuming you still have any of those). Rattling in a laptop means there is something that could get caught in a fan or (if conductive) might short something or cause a fire.

Oh just wait until your babies learn the fun of sticking improbable objects into unusual places! You will have to put all the electronics on top of your highest cabinets, for sure, or risk PB&J peaking out of your Blu Ray Player.

    :)
