This is a good addition for those connected through RSS.

Re: http://blog.louisgray.com/2009/03/google-reader-adds-comments-for-social.html

Amazing how things change in just one year. Intelligent user agents will do the feed crunching for you -- content (and how we interact with it) will simply follow most people around. Those of us who wish to data mine will have more powerful tools available than even Google Reader.

But it's interesting that Google is starting to tie things together. This makes me want to expand my Reader network.

Re: http://blog.louisgray.com/2009/03/google-reader-adds-comments-for-social.html

<sarcasm> YAY! </sarcasm>

Re: http://blog.louisgray.com/2009/03/google-reader-adds-comments-for-social.html

Agreed Louis, I have tried to introduce my friends/colleagues to the benefits of a reader many times but they don't seem to grasp the benefits and instead trawl multiple sites for news. I have even encouraged my partner to subscribe to the fashion Alltop blogs for University but she prefers to navigate to the sites she is familiar with for news!

Re: http://blog.louisgray.com/2009/03/google-reader-adds-comments-for-social.html

For mainstream users, I don't know that Google Reader is dramatically easier than FriendFeed. I clearly like both services, but most mainstream users are still trying to tackle RSS, let alone a reader. I don't see this eliminating the need for a FriendFeed/Facebook type solution.

Re: http://blog.louisgray.com/2009/03/google-reader-adds-comments-for-social.html

Totally agreed. It just needs to be tied together better and its on like donkey kong.

Re: http://blog.louisgray.com/2009/03/google-reader-adds-comments-for-social.html

The only thing Reader needs now is status updates and Google's up there in competition with Facebook (and FriendFeed).

Re: http://blog.louisgray.com/2009/03/google-reader-adds-comments-for-social.html

Does this replace the need for FriendFeed for more mainstream users?
