Those that are able to attend probably have to justify their attendance to their bosses, and they therefore want to get as much content out of the conference as is humanly possible. The only well-known conference that I attend is Oracle OpenWorld, and &lt;a href="http://theappslab.com/2009/04/20/openworld-2009-news/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" title="http://theappslab.com/2009/04/20/openworld-2009-news/"&gt;Jake Kuramoto has noted&lt;/a&gt; that &lt;a href="http://www.oracle.com/us/openworld/018203.htm" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" title="http://www.oracle.com/us/openworld/018203.htm"&gt;Oracle has provided materials&lt;/a&gt; to help potential attendees justify their attendance via ROI arguments. For example, an application user may say something like&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"In this economic climate, it’s critically important that our information is working hard for us. Oracle OpenWorld is the best place to find new ways for advanced business intelligence to serve us in the areas of business performance management, resource planning, and finance."&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;So when people are going through this level of effort to go to a trade show or conference, they know that their bosses are watching them to make sure that they deliver. Thus, the more informed people coming to your booth.&lt;/p&gt;</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">John E.
