Not to push my own articles... but I think if you guys like FriendFeed and Google Reader, you'll really like Lazyfeed. One of the best new products I've seen in a while.
  • Joe Dawson · 5 months ago
Do you have any invites for the service Louis? It does look like it has potential and your post prompts that I need to organise my Google Reader better as I'm forever scrolling for value.
  • Louis Gray · 5 months ago
Joe, Lazyfeed is going to open up on Friday, I believe. They are
participating in TechCrunch's Realtime Crunchup, so I would assume the
best thing to do is wait a couple days and sign up now to be reminded.
  • Joe Dawson · 5 months ago
Cheers Louis, will make sure to be following the Crunchup :)
  • Ken Yeung · 5 months ago
@Louis - you're correct that they're going to open it up on Friday, but I believe it will be a limited invite right now. They'll be sending this out to folks who have signed up already previously and maybe a few others...at least that was what I recall being told. Interested users should definitely sign up and the invitation codes will roll on in shortly.
  • DGentry · 5 months ago
They require a promotional code to sign up, so I can't even put myself on their list to be notified whenever they do start sending invites.
  • Louis Gray · 5 months ago
Hm. That's disappointing. Well, if that's not solved in the next day, it opens up for good on Friday.
  • Tamar Weinberg · 4 months ago
    Nope, still not open yet.
  • matthiasfaller · 5 months ago
The problem is, you will alway turn circles around yourself. Hot topics are based on what you are writing about. You will less likely get stuff around you in sight. Which for me is essential to broaden the horizont.
  • Louis Gray · 5 months ago
Matthias, I see your point, but that is not true. Maybe I should
explain better. It could prepopulate based on what you write about.
But you can add any tags you wish. And Hot Topics is based on their
total index. I never blogged on Michael Jackson, for instance, but
    sure enough, he's right there.

Is this an example of real personalized feed of news, (micro)blog posts, etc? I wonder what Greg Linden of "Geeking with Greg" has to say about this tool?
  • Louis Gray · 5 months ago
It is a personalized feed of news, based on topics you have selected. I would imagine Greg and many others will like this. It's one of the best new apps I've seen in a while.
  • lyceum1776 · 5 months ago
Thanks for the information. I will send an email to Greg Linden.
  • Meryn Stol · 5 months ago
Certainly looks promising. BTW Louis, the article would have been better if it included invites. ;)
  • Chris Hall · 5 months ago
    Louis,

After reading your post, I'm very interested in using the tool, however as DGentry said, you need a promo code to sign up. Do you have any for your readers?

Chris, I wish I could. I absolutely would provide them and share, but I think we just need to wait until Friday.
  • Diego Sana · 5 months ago
Interesting solution. I'm also working on something that solves this problem, but taking another approach. Hope you can give it a try when it comes out, in about two or three months.
  • Louis Gray · 5 months ago
Diego, you know I would be more than happy to check out your product when you are ready. Reach out any time.
  • beddows · 5 months ago
I can see myself using that site on a daily basis. Some type of federated search is definitely needed in social media. I would also be interested in a promo code, if available.
  • Louis Gray · 5 months ago
The site opens on Friday, and I do not have promo codes. I did not realize they were requiring promo codes just to get on the list. But yes, it is a very cool tool which I will be visiting often.
  • Claire Chang · 5 months ago
Thank you Louis for a thorough and positive review of Lazyfeed. We will be releasing promo codes very soon so please stay tuned - thank you.
  • Nate Holland · 5 months ago
This site looks promising. I've always wanted to organize my stuff and just get all the things I need or want to see. It's high time they created something like this. Can't wait till Friday, where can i get my hands on that promo code? lol

TechCrunch now has invites with the code "lazytc". Go to http://www.lazyfeed.com.
  • James Fuller · 5 months ago
    "lazytc" is now expired. :(
  • Louis Gray · 5 months ago
Yup. Their mistake. My account was killed too. Love this game.
  • James Fuller · 5 months ago
I registered for the service on Tuesday, so hopefully they'll send me my invitation later.
  • mathewballard · 5 months ago
Too bad that TC invite code got used up so fast. I guess I'll have to wait to try it out.
  • Dobromir Hadzhiev · 5 months ago
it's picking up some good stuff for teh first 10min it's more of a hit than a miss
  • andy brudtkuhl · 5 months ago
    I hate the invite model
  • jay · 4 months ago
    wow...surprising

Oooh so this is what Lazyfeed is. I have a flow with my aggregating triage (Google Reader, Twitter Search, and Facebook) that ANOTHER similar service to log-in to doesn't really excite me... especially since there seems to be: (1) no method to share (2) no mobile interface or iPhone app (2) and the algorithm pulls up loose keyword searches. The third point is discouraging, for I do not want to sift through old data to quickly inform myself. (points 1-3 found via Steve R.)

The founder seems like a nice guy (I hope birthday boy James guy got his invite!) but frankly, I'm sticking with good 'ole reliable Google search. :)

On a completely unrelated note, LG can you tell Daniel that Disqus is majorly broken? Facebook Connect has been borked since who knows when and timezones are completely screwed up. :(

AAfter Search is offering real-time results from Twitter for months now, and it also offer cookie free high privacy search, and they also do not use any Javascript based ad [like absence].
