Louis: Question, how do you get your Twitter alert to your post to be nested inside the your blog URL? When I post to my blog and twitter alert, is happens exact opposite (see my Dr. Seuss post). My blog post always tucks under my tweet. Apologies for such an inane question, perhaps one for Paul or Bret.

good post, cant tell you how many people in this space have told me how depressing their workplaces are these days. they only continue to work there because of course there is no other jobs available. sad.

i was afraid you were going to say something like that. I'm not sure it is worth doing it if it is manual. You notice a difference in click rate?

i just dont feed my twitter into here, reduces echo, and heck follow me there if you want those ramblings

I don't always ramble though on Twitter, often I post things I find, sometimes RT, etc.

This post hit home really hard. I love what I do and I do enjoy where I work. These tough times have just sucked the wind right out of me. I'm keeping my chin up an praying for the best.

Sorry, Christina! I am hearing bad stories all over - so you are not alone. The '01-'03 crunch was hard, and this is just as bad, if not worse.

depressing. I'm happy to say this post is not about me. Is it about you?
  • Louis Gray · 8 months ago
I think you know that it is not. Aside from the references to friends I've talked to and my previous employer, it's clear this is a broad discussion. You can also safely assume that if this were indeed about me, I would have been dumb to post it.

I just had this same type of conversation with one of our executives about how people are reacting to the slow down. It's hard to re-mobilize an office and I'm still trying to figure out the best ways to get everyone to brush off the bad and push us to success. In our case we rode out the dot-com bust and rallied, but are now suffering through the current downturn with a lack of motivation to do more than just survive.

I think it's like a winded boxer in the 10th round who is just hoping to make it through the next couple rounds. I feel like a corner man trying to get that boxer to dig deep and fight, but it's a challenge and who knows what the outcome will be. If the boxer (team) has lost their passion, desire, and drive it's a challenge to put that back in them. You can try everything, but at some point it comes down to the individuals and you can't make everyone fight.

Exactly! I'm afraid many people spend more time worrying about what might happen instead of trying to do something to stop or slow it.

Good one Louis - well describes the feeling out there.

When all else fails just remember "don't let the bastards grind you down", it works for me but then I can be very stubborn about not giving up/in sometimes...
