louisgray.com: louisgray.com: You Can Only Pitch Me In Reverse Polish Notation or Pig Latin

Good grief, I'm *new world* and this is getting ridiculous. What will next year's darling be? Besides, we have seen quite a bit of 'who is behind a product' and have you romanced those big footprint users who will hammer on about it ENDLESSLY. Talking is talking, no matter what the format is. Everyone is pitching 24/7. But we call it 'our brand' or some such. And at this point, when the companies come in and are all 'conversational', don't we see through that at this point? Like seriously, "come on, you're only here to do the most absolute passive aggressive fake-conversational pitching ever."

What happens when your mere presence is a pitch (but not called that?)

After reading all of this, an entrepreneur with a great new product might be tempted to go with someone less prominent (or more accessible) to pitch their product, if only to try to get some kind of human response.

Boo hoo, for god's sake - I just want people to send me RSS feeds - is that so god damned hard? Let me tell you a little something about R-S-S, see: it's a URL, you send it to me once, then I'm automatically subscribed to all your messages in the future! It's outside of my email inbox, it lives in a special place where I go to read news. I know it sounds crazy, but I think this thing called RSS could change the world. The five minutes it takes to send me that URL might seem like an undue burden to put on people, and if they would prefer to "develop a personal relationship" by just including me on their list for press release email blasts, well then maybe I'll see those emails and maybe I won't.

In other words, Louis - I think you're great but I don't appreciate this post. There's so much communication being enabled and going on these days, why can't we figure out ways to deal with it? Plus honest to god it takes less than 5 minutes to send me a damn RSS URL so that I can catch news that I might have missed otherwise. Why are you picking on me for asking for that? ;)

I'm picking on you because I like you and have high expectations? :-)

RSS is a great thing. Sarah (above) stated sending RSS is a great way to keep in touch over time, and that this isn't a plan to get would-be embargoed news, but instead a way to get to know the client, which is of course a lot more noble than I had first interpreted (AKA - notify me this way and only this way).

Ok, ok - I guess the comment fight is off, huh? :( It sounded like fun, but whatever! Take care, I'm off to go fight back at WinExtra!

I am very angry about clicking through to this article — despite the misleading title, it had ZERO RPN content!
