louisgray.com: louisgray.com: Will Future Information Consumption Be In Nested GUIs?

Eeeek! Too busy! It's like the visual version of iGoogle... :\ Simple = best, please!

Actually Mark has been doing something similar over at his personal sight (rizzn.com). It's easily done using a variation of the Lightbox plugin and some javascript. I've though about doing the same kind of idea but have held off doing for right now

Yeah Mike pitched that too me as well. Unfortunately, as Mona commented, I think it's way too busy and doesn't offer much innovation in the way of media consumption. Viewing sites within a nested GUI also limits some of the interaction I want to take place. What if I have a delicious toolbar plugin and I want to bookmark an article? Not possible in a nested GUI.

Not to mention that it's very slow. It seems to add to the problem of information overload by stuffing as much content onto one page as possible. What's the point of a nested GUI in the age of browser tabs? We don't have to be limited to one window anymore. just my 2 cents.

I agree with previous comments, it's much too busy.

Hi. Great post Louis. I agree with all of these comments too.

Storylinez isn't a good example of what I'm trying to do with microspaces, It's just kind of an introduction to the technology and interaction. I have several product launches coming that show how a microspace can solve different problems, and can have more compelling uses.
