Google Expands Web Elements With Reader, Translate, Orkut
For example, I often use IM to share a crash log with a coworker, and to then discuss what the possible cause may be. Doing all of this within earshot of my coworkers would be very distracting to them, so IM is very helpful in this regard.
Perhaps if there was a noise cancelling accessory that could allow me to talk on the phone without disturbing my nearby coworkers, I could use the phone instead of IM, since I appreciate your other points about typing at the same time, which often happens when using IM.
