Their transparency
and ability to listen to users while developing new services that even
we hadn't predicted are a big part of why I became an early proponent
of the service. That said, I had hoped the realtime functionality
would open new doors that today has Twitter in the lead. I find I am
relying more and more on Twitter search to see what big groups are
saying in response to current events, big and small, and I think
FriendFeed would be a great alternative.

Re: louisgray.com: Twitter Still Beats FriendFeed On Real-Time Topic Tracking

FriendFeed is slacking on search in general. I mentioned in my recent post, that the fire hose of noise (in real-time view) on the main feed is ridiculous and, in my opinion, should not be an option...unless (which I forgot to mention) they integrate filtering of keywords. Then we have a whole new ballgame and I'm ready to play.

Re: louisgray.com: Twitter Still Beats FriendFeed On Real-Time Topic Tracking

I have never been convinced FriendFeed was a twitter killer. It is the real-time conversations in twitter that have always been better then FF. Some talk about being overwhelmed with the amount of conversations going on over twitter. I actually can't keep up with FF.

And it is the tools like TweetDeck which make the twitter experience even better. I set it up so I can watch a group of those I follow who I don't want to get lost in the "all tweets". I also like the fact I can do a search for a term and follow the conversations going on on that topic.

For me twitter is still my choice between it and FF.

Re: louisgray.com: Twitter Still Beats FriendFeed On Real-Time Topic Tracking

Agree Louis, I bet we see FriendFeed implement something like that relatively soon -- I think Bret may have even responded to a note Scoble made about it earlier. Even with that though, Twitter will still have a major strength in numbers -- which is obviously huge for search results -- but it's updates like this that can keep FriendFeed growing.

What I really want to see is a way to like comments now on the new real-time interface. I'd prefer something a little different than an item like, maybe a mini-like or something.
