Horizontal display that uses the swipe motion of the photos app to go from column to column and the ability to set a home screen which you could always go to with a quick shake to the accelerometer.

Neil, thanks for your comments. I've been very impressed with Iain's
work on TweetDeck since getting in touch with him back in July. It's
impressive to see what he has developed in just under six months' time.

The API issues are Twitter-related, not TweetDeck-specific. Until
Twitter gets their act together, just about every product out there
that needs their API will see limitations.

Now that the new TweetDeck is out, did you go download it? I think
you'll be pleasantly surprised to see the narrow column option. Of
course, you could always click to scroll...

Thanks for the information. I just switched to TweetDeck in the past few weeks and this morning was notified about the new version when launching the application this morning. I was wondering about the new changes and they are mentioned here making it easier for me.

I love Tweetdeck too after spending way too long using Twhirl but still not being happy.

The only issue with TD is that it sometimes some of the people I follow are not in the list when I create goups. I've seen other people with the same problem too..

That said, without TD Twitter wouldn't be anywhere near as useful for me.

I was a TweetDeck user for awhile, and left because of issues with the API delays and missing tweets. However, it's the best Twitter application I've come across, the only one that lets you separate everything in columns within the same page. The improvements (especially the increase in speed and TweetShrink) made it a no-brainer to come back to.

Just did my upgrade not 15 minutes ago then caught your tweet. This is the app to have. I might need to find a 2nd monitor deal today so I can keep outlook and tweet deck up 24/7.

I personally like TweetDeck a lot. For seeing activity, including
replies, DMs, etc., there is no substitute. But if you want to break
out of Twitter and use Identica, FriendFeed or others, I would lean
toward Posty. That's why I often use Posty, to cross-distribute
updates to both Twitter and Identica.

Ive never been able to get tweetdeck to stick.. tried it 5 times but always go back to twhirl. If they get this "narrow column" thing working Ill try again.

I can't wait to get my hands on the newest version. I just started using Tweetdeck last Saturday and although I'm not a power user I love it. Some of these features sound really awesome and should make Tweetdeck much better then it already is.

I have been using TweetDeck for about 2 months now and think it's great. It looks like the main areas of concern are being improved which is always great news. The best addition sounds to be the narrow option. Tweetdeck takes up my whole screen right now and I can't see the group I've added because I have no screen left. This is a major improvement. Looking forward to the new release.

Louis, thanks for the update. Sounds like this version will add some very nice enhancements. This is one Christmas present I'm really looking forward to. Now when are they releasing their iPhone version again? :)
