    I already use Twitter search and BackType to do this, but TweetBeep is a much easier replacement for Twitter search.

    EDIT: And what are the odds; BackType just introduced their own alert feature.

    I've been using Tweetbeep for some time now. It's a useful service for ensuring you never miss an @reply or mention of topics and/or keywords that are important to you. Kudos to Michael Jensen (@mdjensen) for his Tweetbeep work!

    You can do this with TweetDeck... You can create a tab which shows only tweets containing certain keywords.. you can even have one per keyword. Less intrusive, IMHO.
