Not sure if you are aware and whether this will help you, but I personally add comments to a comment tracking service like http://www.adapterlist.com and then subscribe to your own personalized rss feed.

Here we are months later and there is still no excellent solution to missing out on the comments - or at least if there is I haven't come across it yet. I just published a post suggesting that bloggers make the time to visit a few blogs directly and offering the benefits of doing so.

I know in my blog there is often far more quality content in the comments than there was in the original post.
