    Louis,

i'd like to check this out. i'd appreciate an invite.

that said, Friendfeed update is just around the corner. if FF adds more filtering features, then i'll continue to be a happy FF camper :)

Hi Louis, I'd be interested in trying it out: lostmoya@gmail.com

I get what you're saying about the cluttered but clean look. From the screenshots it seems to have maybe one too many boxes in the interface, but I like the sound of the filter options. One thing I think a service like Swurl does right that's not in Friendfeed is the use of the right hand space of the interface to show Recent Conversations you've been involved in. You could augment that with a tab perhaps to show recent and hot conversations or similar. It seems to me that since it's the commenting that is the key feature of lifestreaming, these sites need to put that front and centre a little more.

Louis, thank you for talking about Strands. We have a lot of work to do, and we know this. We're working really hard answering feedback questions and suggestions so we're doing what people want to see and use. I've had a lot of great conversations here at Gnomedex about what we could do. That's what we need to hear.

Our passion is recommendation. Helping people find new content and people based on their tastes.

For your readers, they can sign up for the private beta with the code "louisgray1" if they go to http://beta.strands.com and click "Request an invitation to join Strands..."

Thanks Drew - that's really good of you! No need to send invites out now I guess, Louis!

Being a polyglot it was not an issue for me, but it was quite funny.

It's hard to get excited about a service that already exists. In part I feel this will lead to more fragmentation and create a need for a service that ties activity together across multiple aggregation services - one activity with 2 likes on FF, 3 dislikes on strands, and 4 comments on socialthing. It's just all getting so messy.
  • drewolanoff · 1 year ago
What we're aiming to do is to clear up the clutter by recommending good content that you might be interested in.
  • Jennifer Van Grove · 1 year ago
I totally get that and I think it's great. The mess I'm referring to is the fact that I use a similar service with an extremely active community, so participating on Strands (which I am doing because I like the site a lot) creates another destination community/site where my activity shows up and other people react to it.

Any chance of an invite left?

Does Disqus actually tell you the poster's email address? If not, then it's here. http://bit.ly/email_ancyru

    Edit: Received one.

Yes please. If you still have some invites left I will have a good look at this lifestreaming aggregator, everything seems to have its own little points of uniqueness.
