louisgray.com: louisgray.com: SocialToo Helps Prevent You From Auto-Following Spammers

    Thanks @MariSmith for alerting me to this blog post and this upgrade to SocialToo. This is an excellent addition and since I'm one who auto follows (the more the merrier, I say) then it's good to know there's a way to get rid of those who aren't truly using twitter for connections.

    Thanks Denise - we'll keep working to add more features like this in the future, so stay tuned to our blog at http://blog.socialtoo.com.

    Jesse, way to go! I appreciate all you and the SocialToo team are doing to bring some sense of sanity to Twitter...

    Let me ask, was it by design that Twitter left open certain areas to encourage an ecosystem of developers or are they just poor planners and didn't expect (or are not responding to) issues like this, in your opinion?
  • Jesse Stay · 11 months ago
    Ken, I think they're just poor planners. This is why I call it "SocialToo" and not "TwitterToo" - there's no telling if Twitter might implement something similar in the future. If so, we'll just compete along with their features.

    I'm a big @jesse & @socialtoo fan. Been using the service for a wee while and love the added improvements of late, including $5 back-follow. Jesse's a sharp cookie. And for peeps who prefer not to follow everyone back... oh well, each to their own. There are no hard & fast rules to using Twitter. ;)

    Cheers,
    @marismith

    Definitely Mari, and I don't think everyone should have to follow everyone back. It should be all about being able to use the service in the way you want to, while at the same time giving others that same flexibility. Thanks for your support, Mari!

    Thanks - great review Louis! As always, people can always contact me if they have questions.

    Thanks for putting this out there Louis. Recently signed up for it and I can't wait to see how well it works. It's a tool that Twitter has needed for far too long.

    This feature of SocialToo is compelling enough for me to reinvestigate autofollowing on Twitter, so many companies such as Twollo (http://www.twollo.com) and Twollow.com just presented me with a ton of unfiltered users who spoke once on the topic I was tracking and then it wasn't even slightly related in ongoing tweets. I am really excited to see how I can unfollow users so easily with the features in SocialToo, although could another intergration for anyone who wants to be selective on their unfollows to use a service such as Qwitter, that way if someone unfollows you but you are quite interested in their tweets then you can stay assertive to who you unfollow!

    Yes! I was hoping for this! Thanks Jesse and Louis!

    Great idea! This makes autofollow much less awkward.
