so i run over to sign up, thinking if louis likes it, it will be good ... (future vision, the LG star rating, like michelin for french restaurants, hard to get, but worth the effort, anonymous testers traveling around the web'o'sphere, checking sites for exceptional quality).... and i sign up ... but wait, that name is already taken, (oh, sigh), and that email too! (oh-oh), and then it dawns, and i log in, viola, welcome gregorylent, etc., and there's me in one of my beautiful babe incarnations, and a personal message from *jason*...

.... and i begin to contemplate, if i cannot even remember which social networks i have signed up for, i am a lost soul. where is my self-definition? like a wanna-be on the club scene, desperate to be part of the cool crowd. to know, to be, to be recognized, as special!....

.... dang, didn't i already do this before, say, junior high school? is my hunger for community and conversation and connection so strong that not even dozens of social networks will satisfy it? what am i chasing? interests? friends? what am i running from? life? too gruesome to think about.

only now its my real name, no more stardip209, and it is all on google for anyone to see, forever, and i can't go back to bsm, "before social media", and i have become a permanent marketing target, where the choice is only market to or be-marketed-to .... and in the immortal words of about half the twits online, i already blogged about this, see my post here at www.toocoolforthisworld.com ....

Louis - these guys are doing a great job. I think the they've hit the nail on the head with their "news topics" pages. We're doing something similar at NewsCred (athough not public yet) - will drop you a mail about it ;-) I'm most impressed at how fast these guys are pushing out new features. Well done to them!

to view individual's streams, or to follow links, or to see anything useful beyond homepage public stream, you have to have an account.

Glad you've checked them out. I've been watching SocialMedian since getting access in late March. These guys are planning for the long haul and they have an interesting, unique, product. It's a good complement to FriendFeed and other sites I use a lot.
