I'm staying with Google Reader.

Re: louisgray.com: Shyftr Adds OPML Support To Intriguing RSS Feed Reader

About time :) Go Shyftr.

Re: louisgray.com: Shyftr Adds OPML Support To Intriguing RSS Feed Reader

I'm sitting here reading this when I get Mike Arrington's update on FriendFeed that Google Reader now allows you to add notes when you share a feed item. That's huge for someone like me, since I often share feeds directly into Tumblr without attribution or comment. This is going to make it lots easier for me to give credit...and my two cents. As you said, we hold some extremely high expectations. The wonder is: they deliver.

Re: louisgray.com: Shyftr Adds OPML Support To Intriguing RSS Feed Reader

Google Reader is the fastest today, ahead of everybody else I've tried.

That's part of why I mentioned the keyboard shortcuts. I think adding keyboard navigation is essential, especially as the number of feeds increases. I have seen other feed readers (like Assetbar) that added keyboard navigation, but lagged on speed, which was unsustainable.

There are some who will be happy trading social for speed, and some won't. I believe that with time, both elements are solvable. Google happens to do a great job with speed today, and we hold them to extremely high expectations.

Re: louisgray.com: Shyftr Adds OPML Support To Intriguing RSS Feed Reader

Maybe I've missed this Louis, but it seems like you rarely talk about performance/speed when you review feed readers. Speed, though, is a major advantage Google Reader has over its competitors.

I'm not interested in social features if I have to give up speed and performance. Obviously, keyboard shortcuts are one key enabler when it comes to speed. But raw server performance is a huge factor. I'm not saying I need benchmarks or math-y stats. Just tell me one thing before I try out a new feed reader:

Is it as fast as Google Reader?

Re: louisgray.com: Shyftr Adds OPML Support To Intriguing RSS Feed Reader

Thanks Louis,

-Dave
