louisgray.com: louisgray.com: Selling Ourselves Short as Women In Tech

One of the biggest problems is that the women who know tech, don't want to be spokesman and those who want to be spokesman don't know tech, its sad but true

I am sure there are exceptions. But even with men, you have a strong core of engineers who never should be spokespeople, and you have spokespeople who don't know how to write code.

One of the issues I believe Cyndy is right on is that the appearance threshold for a lady to participate is expected to be much higher than it is for a man. That's pretty much true in any medium, whether it's tech, or it's broadcast journalism.

I'm very lucky to be based in Boston. There is a very supportive tech and social media community here where it is possible to meet business associates at events and meet ups who support each other, and who become actual friends more often that not. There is a thriving social change atmosphere here as well, and I get the impression it is rare on all counts. (It took me a while to write that. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when I heard Cyndy say she was in agreement with Loren. *wink)

I hadn't heard about this one. Oh my god.

    That is all.
