louisgray.com: louisgray.com: RSSMeme Creator Launches Tweet2Tweet to Watch Twitter Discussion

Good trend: Twitter conversation functionality is expanded. First, Quotably.com and now Tweet2tweet.

Hmmm... I'm looking at that and the problem is that it pulls only the @ replies and not the entire conversation. I'm not sure if that's an issue on Ben's side or Summize's side, but doesn't even Twitter notes which replies are to which Tweets, even if they don't start out as @s? The conversation presented this way seems very disjointed out of context.

I assume it is looking for the @replies only. As with most first-day releases, there is certainly room to improve, and it appears Benjamin's just getting started using the Summize API.

Let's see if you get any new followers out of this. :-)

Now I see that you are doing all this just for entertainment value! ;) I can't follow many more people. If I do, I won't have time to comment on Valleywag!

It was only looking for @replies (ie the first word is @username). But I've changed it to look for all references.

Tweet2Tweet is a another cool creation by Ben! woo hoo! I think this has alot of promise. I can see expanding on this concept in multiple ways... product development gears are spinning wildly!

Very nice. Ben is a rapid fire developer for sure and he will be improving this daily. Can't wait to see how it progresses.

interesting idea, but their should be an option to limit the displayed discussion to a specific timeframe, otherwise the returned dataset might be too much to handle.

    Minor modifications I've made:

    1) "Twitterizing" - hyperlinking @replies to the Twitter username.
    2) Newest first - not sure which I like better...newest first is more like Twitter but oldest first is easier to read a "conversation" in my opinion.
    3) No longer just @replies are included. Anytime you reference someone (not just the first word in the update) it will be included.

I haven't decided yet if I plan on adding pagination. There is no Tweet 2 Tweet database; it completely uses Summize.

    Thanks for covering this Louis!

"In my testing, I would occasionally see only one half of a conversation, or find empty results, especially when querying the most-active Twitter users." Can you give me some examples? Not sure if it's App Engine or Summize that's having issues.

    Check this one:

    http://tweet2tweet.com/scobleizer/techcrunch/

With these two, you know they talk, but it gets an empty page.

Thanks I see the problem and will have it fixed soon.

    Fixed! Thanks Louis.

If you're searching Summize multiple times a day for the same terms, you might want to subscribe to that search's feed. That's what I do.
