Thanks for the great post! I need to loose some weight (30 lbs) as I sit ALL day at my desk on the phone or at my laptop. Just 2 weeks ago I made an important change that is helping. I made my cell phone my primary phone number so I can get away from my old desk phone + using a bluetooth headset has freed me from the ball/chain of my old wired desk phone so I can go for walks around the building, or when it's snowing, I just walk in my office i.e. burn a circle pattern in my office carpet. ;)

Sounds like a good start, Susan. I have been focusing on my health since April and I'm doing pretty well now. I've found that making one small change at a time is the best way for me to stick with it. I started walking around the office complex every day at lunch, then eating less. I've been building up from there.

Hey Daniel, I lost a ton of weight using a site called Fatsecret, I found it via a really good Facebook app interface. Might be a good add for people.

FatSecret does look like a pretty good resource, thanks for the tip!

"Trends in dieting seem to change with the season – one day you’re being told to eat bagels, the next, bacon. It all gets a little confusing. That’s where FatSecret comes in. As a helpful and vibrant community, FatSecret takes the feedback and collective experience of members and shares it around so everyone gets to see what really works and what may be useful to them."

Online tools or applications are now a basic element of our lives. Not all but almost everyone.

I try to stop short of assuming that everyone has access and time to use web tools, but I figured that anyone reading this site would fit the bill.

http://www.gyminee.com/public/indexb is a good website if you are looking for a social place to keep a steady journal of your progress and to get tips and advice from others.
