louisgray.com: louisgray.com: My 2008 Tech Predictions Look Bad As Year Nears a Close

Some of your predictions, throughout the year, seemed very plausible. Some, like the sale of StumbleUpon and Digg seemed like they would happen at any moment. But, like many other things, I think I certain world economy collapsing changed a few things.

Yup, we put that reader to bed quickly. The upside is that we haven't stopped writing code, and we'll be launching some brand new free and open tools for bloggers in early 2009. This time we'll see if we can make personalization / discovery interesting. And we promise to keep it simple. :)

Israel, I was a big fan of what your team was trying to do, and I know
you've got good talent on the team. Please do keep me (and all of us)
posted with your next big moves. Never stop trying.

I actually think you were right on 1. Do a traffic analysis and tell me who wins :-)

Disagree on 8 though. There were big, profitable (maybe not megarich) stars in the video blogging space this year, and for the first time real money as well. Hit the top guys on YouTube and tell me that 5 million views for a video makes them unpopular :-)

I don't see Netflix or iTunes winning the market, rather coexisting with both overlapping and complementary offers for consumers. But as people find more of what they want to watch online, services with a "universal" catalog that compile all the options will become more important - that's our perspective at Jinni.
