louisgray.com: louisgray.com: iPod Touch As An Apple TV Remote? Cooler Than I Thought.

Hey Louis. Yes, I've just discovered the joys of using the iPod touch as a remote for iTunes on my computer, especially since my Mac Pro didn't come with a remote. An infrared remote needs a line of sight, but the wifi remote means that I can use it anywhere in the house! This will be awesome for my next party. (I'm turning 30 next week!) I was also happy to click the link to your library and see a website created by my software. :-D

Yeah I just started played with it last night.. it is damn spiffy! Reminds me of the Sonos unit I reviewed a while ago, and now miss.

    You didn't mention this -

If you go to any search screen on the Apple TV (iTunes Store search or YouTube search), your iPhone will bring up a keyboard where you type in your search.

Does the remote application allow you access rentals at the Itunes store just like the white remote does?
The remote app, as far as I can tell only controls the content on your Ipod touch or Iphone.
Am I missing something? Thanks for you help if I am not seeing something.

Hardware wise, you basically have a Nintendo Wii at home. Did you realize *that*?

Apple TV might quite soon stop being a hobby to Apple...

You read my mind, I did the same thing + it's funny to mess around with others people Itunes :) all you need is 30 seconds of their time to be away from PC/Laptop/Mac :)

Btw I wish they would release remote control for PC/MAC :)

Apple is onto something big here -- in the past one "remote" talked directly to one device. Now the remote app uses wifi to talk to any output device also on the network and connect with any media library on the network. It's fun and amazing to link to one library and tell it to play a play list here or there. Then link to another library and send it somewhere else. Setting it all up with Verizon's router was no piece cake, though. (http://gravitationalpull.net/wp/?p=369)
