I think people are still trying to figure out the whole "microblogging" thing. You should get one of the big mommy bloggers using it and they'll promote it for you :-)

Re: louisgray.com: Identi.ca and the Power of Microbranded Communities

Marina, it's now one of my favorite blogs - I love the tips and howtos you're giving there.

Re: louisgray.com: Identi.ca and the Power of Microbranded Communities

I think with all the big players in the web 2.0 space, community branding of micro-communities becomes an important aspect to success. That's pretty much the same thing I said about Mixx: http://bit.ly/wfYoP

Re: louisgray.com: Identi.ca and the Power of Microbranded Communities

Jesse,

I was one of the very early adopters of Laconi.ca and have created http://wheremomschat.com using the software. Not a lot of activity on the site yet, but it's there ready to be used. :)

Dewald

Re: louisgray.com: Identi.ca and the Power of Microbranded Communities

The OpenMicroBlogging specification is the protocol that Laconica implements. The specification was written by Evan, and he definitely seems open to other implementations of OMB. Ultimately, that's what will drive OMB forward and make it more interesting. I wrote about this not long after identi.ca launched, http://pastoid.com/3b+

Re: louisgray.com: Identi.ca and the Power of Microbranded Communities

Great post, Jesse! I'm so excited by Laconi.ca and, even moreso, by how excited Laconi.ca is making others.

Also, thanks for the "Oh, Identi.ca!" plug - since I'm not much of a programmer, I hope that I can contribute to the community via the blog in some way.

Re: louisgray.com: Identi.ca and the Power of Microbranded Communities

Rodney, I agree - 4 million users really isn't that much if you just have 8 smaller networks with just 500,000 users each that all talk to each other. :-)

Re: louisgray.com: Identi.ca and the Power of Microbranded Communities

great post jesse. I have always maintained that identi.ca is a major threat to twitter. Your blog post only reinforces my opinion with more data that exposes what is really possibly. All we have to do is move 4 million users to identi.ca

It could happen quite easily actually given some of what you posted here.

Rodney Rumford
