Kontra, it would be stating the obvious to say your article is fantastic. I won't even go in to how in-depth, thoughful, and well-written it is. Me too. I doubt I will get one because I got the iPhone 3G and now am contract-locked, but I will definitely seek one out to play with it on release day!

I think it is important to remember that most of niggling foibles of the iPhone (e.g., copy/paste) were NOT discussed prior to getting into hands of real world users. While the pre appears to be an improvement in some areas (most notably multi-tasking and Online App integration) we should perhaps take a breath and reserve some judgment for the device/software until it is in 30 or 40 thousand hands.
Louis - I think you nailed the title... it COULD. Of course if the phone starts splitting in two when the keyboard is opened, or the OS crashes every 15 minutes... maybe not so much.
I'm taking a deep breath and waiting for launch... when you've use one for 2 weeks or so I'll be dying for your review.
