It's an excellent idea ;) And amusing as well...

Re: louisgray.com: Hey Bloggers, We're Discussing Your Posts At Social Median!

SocialMedian, by default, starts you with one of many celebrities. I think it's an amusing "push" to get you to post your own avatar rather than keeping a generic.

Re: louisgray.com: Hey Bloggers, We're Discussing Your Posts At Social Median!

I saw your post about this on FriendFeed and just signed up. So yes, I'm on *another* site, and it's all your fault! So, do they give everyone the default avatar of Oprah, or random celebrities? Now I need to figure out how to connect to you over there...

Re: louisgray.com: Hey Bloggers, We're Discussing Your Posts At Social Median!

Is there a good way for me to track what's being said about me or a particular topic on SocialMedian without going to SocialMedian itself? For instance, on FriendFeed I can do a search for my name, or StayNAlive.com, or other topics, and it all gets returned as RSS that I can add to my Reader so I know when someone is talking about the topics I like to hear. I'd rather not have to go to SocialMedian to find that. I should only have to go to SocialMedian to participate in the discussion - that's why I like FriendFeed. All my activity on FriendFeed can actually take place outside of the site itself, either via the API, RSS, or elsewhere.

Re: louisgray.com: Hey Bloggers, We're Discussing Your Posts At Social Median!

Socialmedian is like a good friend. Sure they are taking comments away from my site by readers ONLY commenting here, but I can't be mad at my friend. They hopefully click on my blog too. Comments are comments as long as they appreciate the work...Right?

Re: louisgray.com: Hey Bloggers, We're Discussing Your Posts At Social Median!

Sold... A story that becomes popular in any or the news aggregators will get comments in Digg, Reddit, FriendFeed, SocialMedian…ect. Soon we will need a techmeme for blog comments as comment will become more and more disperse. News aggregators will soon realize that is OK to not only grab the news from the blogs but also grab a portion of the meals by allowing users to post comments directly on their sites – I assume Gabe is already working on this one at techmeme. What I would like to see and I am sure someone is already think about this is to aggregator comments around top stories from all possible news or social aggregators.
So that we would get all comments in just one place.
