Kappa, you are right, Gears are built-in in Chrome. I updated the note to say Google's focus to help Chrome is going to also aid Safari users, and this is a likely first step.

Maybe change did not take? I am still reading it very much like Gears is coming to Chrome, not already in Chrome

If you do a "shift refresh", it'll show this line: "Without saying so, that certainly means Gears' integration in the Chrome browser is behind getting those of us using Safari will get some trickle-down help." It looks like one of Google's other products, Blogger, was a little slow in getting this one.

Google Chrome on Windows already supports Google Gears. It's built into the install.
