10 Top New Web Services of 2009 (From My Perspective)
If anyone wants to chat you can add me (bgolub@benjamingolub.com).
Sure seems like a much more straightforward method, and still allows more than 140 characters...
What is the advantage of doing that through gTalk instead of just utilizing FF's built in mechanism? I'm probably missing something obvious, but to me it just seems that the reasons given for "why" are the purpose of the "share something" function. :-)
You've figured out my scheme! I just like the Google Talk import better. I guess I must prefer FriendFeed for importing external data rather than posting new data directly on the site.
Truth be told, I'm more likely to just go get in on some conversation by commenting on something from someone popular anyway... my feed is a lonely place, lol.
I do agree about external feeds, but until FF is integrated back into all of those tools/originations we are witnessing fractured conversations in multiple places. Like when someone tweets, blogs, shares and discusses a single idea across FF, other users interact with those feeds separately. Would be nice to have coherent centralized (or synchronized) conversations everywhere.
As for fractured conversations, I believe that we will be seeing some solutions very soon.
Anyway, really good point re GTalk and appreciate the pointer. It's always easier to learn from others' experience than to stumble oneself. Although wouldn't it have been posted out via a syndication tool like Twhirl? Or does Twhirl remove deleted FF items from the stream?
