louisgray.com: louisgray.com: FriendFeed Friday Tips #1: Five Ways To Use the Hide Function

  • Shey · 1 year ago
Well covered Louis! No doubt the many aspects hide feature can help reduce the 'noise'.

Personally I also am going to try and refrain from "liking" the same post more than once (i.e. the blog post, tweet, GR share, del.icio.us link, etc..). I'll join in on the discussions but I'm gonna try and be more selective with my "likes".

    Great job as always Louis.

Semi-related: I've been wondering how friendfeed decides to provide users with friend-of-a-friend updates -- anyone know how that's done ?

  • Chris Nixon · 1 year ago
Great tips Louis. Now....are there any FriendFeed apps that incorporate the 'hide' feature?
  • Jan Horna · 1 year ago
Great tips .. a nice way of prioritizing!

I wish I could do the same with RSS feeds (in Google Reader) and e-mails (Outlook and Gmail).

Is there a way to Hide all Friends of Friends stuff, universally, and not go to each Friend and hide their Friends stuff?
  • Louis Gray · 1 year ago
Yes, absolutely. If you see the above graphic, one option says, "Hide all stuff from friends-of-friends". That'll block all friends of a friend, not just one person's.
  • Vasudev Ram · 1 year ago
Yes, I agree with the others - these are quite useful tips - should help reduce the firehose effect :).
    Thanks,
    Vasudev
