As a football fan, I am stupified the way the NFL playoffs have been officiated. Goodell has proven that he cannot captain the ship. This (Big Game), is the culmination of his inability to lead "the fans league" in the right direction.

Is that really your standpoint on wikipedia? How old school. You should help refine wikipedia instead, and so should your wifes students. And I hope she tells them to never trust ANY single source.

Having the fantasy playoffs be the real playoffs would add an extra challenge. I've done well in my league by using players on teams who aren't going to the playoffs. My big guns this year were:

Andre Johnson, Steve Slaton, Frank Gore, Marshawn Lynch, Tyler Thigpen, Kyle Orton, Tony Gonzalez and Santana Moss.

Is there a bigger pool to pick from when you get to the playoffs? I'm assuming you have to shed players who aren't active and pick up those that are, or do you just *really* have to think ahead?

Wow. Well, three things I have to say about all of this.

1) I won my fantasy football league already so I can enjoy these games without extra drama.
2) Delhomme was pretty miserable tonight.
3) If you think Wikipedia is bad now, wait until they use that $890K grant to make editing more user friendly.

AJ, in our league, we do things a bit differently, and they are
wrinkles I think add a lot of fun to the game. In addition to the pre-
season draft, we have a "redraft" after week 8, so you keep one player
and discard the rest. It gives teams that had a slow start a chance to
get back into it and keeps people from "mailing it in."

After the conclusion of the regular season, 4 of the 12 teams (the
three division winners plus a wild card) redraft using only teams that
have made the playoffs. The pool is smaller, but so is the number of
teams drafting. The most fun part about that is you are essentially
making picks on teams as much as you are players. If you go heavy on
the Colts, and they lose in the first round, for example, you are
toast (that happened to one team this year).

In the 2008/09 playoffs, I ended up heavy on Carolina and Arizona, so
this evening's game was an odd one for me. I was guaranteed to lose
significant players, but I bet more on Arizona than anybody else, so
it actually turned out alright.

Thanks, Jeff! I have to agree that as things stand now, the future looks bright. My 1st round pick of DeAngelo Williams was a weak 6 points total, and Stewart sat on the bench. I can only be happy I played Warner and not Delhomme! Wow.

If the Eagles win tomorrow, I'll feel great. If Sproles does well tomorrow, it will be amazing. If the Eagles and Chargers both lose... and the Giants win, I'll be holding my breath.

And... if I do win, the first thing I'll do is spend some of the prize money on a third trophy for my bookshelf.

even though your two Carolina RB's didn't do much, you had good games from Warner and Fitzgerald.

I don't see how anyone is going to beat you. Only one with a shot to catch you is Dan, and he'll need the NY Giants to absolutely dominate their way to a super bowl victory while your players stink it up to even have a chance.

AJ, on the fantasy football front, being in a league where the real
playoffs are your playoffs is a lot of fun. I had Delhomme, and
luckily didn't start him, playing Warner instead. I've also been lucky
in terms of which teams have won. While I did have Williams and
Stewart from Carolina, I was more overweighted on Arizona than anybody
else.

scorers in our league.
