Count yourself lucky that you weren't enjoying the weather we were in Montana during your power outage. When I left work work this morning, Accuweather informed me that it was -20 F. Right now, the mercury hovers at a nice round 0.

Yeah, I've been here my whole 40 years. I don't know why we all stick around. Though I think I'll take this over mudslides, earthquakes, and wildfires.

BTW, I didn't mean for that to come off like, "what the heck are you complaining about?"
More like, "yes, I have blogged in the dark much, and recently!" :)

When I was younger, my family lived in a small town in Northern California called Brownsville. On two occasions, we got so much snow that the power was knocked out to our home for a week. With five kids, my parents brought in kerosene lamps and got my brother and me out to help shovel snow. We literally could step on the drift in the front yard, turn around and then step on the roof of the house to clear it off.

After the second long blackout, my mom announced she had enough, and that led to our moving.

I hope the Northeast recovers soon. I know this three-hour blip was not that big a deal. Just annoying.

Here in the Northeast, there are hundreds of thousands of people who have been without power since Thursday night from an icestorm. We were lucky to be out for only 12 hours or so, plus we have a generator, so we had the critical heat and water, and even Internet access.

With two babies, we would have had to move out and stay with family or in a shelter.

Well, I'd say it better than losing the water supply. Trust me because we're used to all kinds of outages you can think of. A mobile phone car charger can sure be valuable, too!

Not liking the local Twitter search feature on any of the iPhone apps? I use TwitterFon local search when the internet goes out and it's been great for getting info. I've even made new Twitter friends who share news and jokes (usually about the ISP, TimeWarnerCable!) while we wait for service to be restored. Hope you stay safe :)

Mona, I haven't had to change diapers tonight yet, but it has been
accomplished before! Blogging is slower via iPhone, and I didn't do
any "fancy" links or images. Also, no copy/paste means I can't send it
to Twitter. :-/

I'll live. Wife is smarter than me. She took the opportunity to just
go to sleep.
