Thanks, Jesse. My daughter loves to play some of the games using the accelerometer, and would probably love some of these. Thanks for the info.

Jesse - I have spent a lot of time looking for great kids apps - as it is difficult to find easy to use "games" for children my daughter's age. What started as an innocuous "let daddy find a fun game for you on his phone" comment to my daughter has become an obsession. Thus, my iPhone has quickly become a requirement by my 3-year-old daughter any time we go anywhere.

Three months ago, I wouldn't have been caught dead handing over my iPhone to her, but now I don't think twice. It is interesting how this change occurred so instantly without thought and now my daughter understands how the phone's accelerometer functions and how to use the "home" button to exit a game. In fact, I have created a "page" on the home screen of Avery-safe games to play.

I would also add a simple game called "Preschool Adventure" to the list as well as "JirboBounce"...

Koi Pond is a favorite for my 3 and 5 year old, but it's still got lots of interface doodads that fly out and such. I kept trying to find a good game for my kids, without things that pop up randomly and take over the screen, not to mention "dying" and having to start over interrupting the fun that many games have (that Bee one) :-)

Soooo, I decided to make one! It's more of a "toy" than a game, something that is just non-stop fun and you can't lose at, and you can't break it. It's called TowerSmash and it lets your kids stack up blocks and smash em down. Simple, but my kids (and others, from the reviews) love it!

It's got great physics, and it's fun to try throwing the balls as the blocks are falling and timing it just right. More info if you want to check it out:

    Hi,

We've just created a new game called WaKi SNAP! for the iPhone which has been a big hit with kids and their parents. It's based on the children's card game "snap" but the unique element that separates it from the vast majority of other iPhone games is that this is a 2-Player game that helps two children keep themselves occupied on the same iPhone at the same time (so there's no fighting over taking turns)! Parents enjoy playing it with their children as well.

    Here is the link:

I created it after seeing how mesmerised my young nephews and nieces were with the touch element and the motion graphics on the iPhone, so a version of "snap" seemed like a great way to get started on the platform! At least I was assured of a captive audience in them!

    We hope you like it!

    Hi,

I saw that you had some success with some iPhone apps for your child. I just released my first game.

It is called Henry & Hailey's Preschool Pals.
It is a kids mix and match game.
I designed it for my 3 year old son Henry.

    Hope you enjoy it!

    Thanks!

    Great thread!

We too are parents who have ventured into the iTune App world. Apps for kids and families is something we are passionate about. As parents of a 7, 6, and 3 year old we know the toughest audience can be our own kids!

Our apps are called JingleJumble and Jumbalu Zoo. Our JingleJumble App is a Christmas-themed mix & match with wonderfully illustrated characters and sound effects (our 3 yr. old loves this one!). Jumbalu Zoo follows a similar premise but with a variety of zany animal characters. Both apps have various levels so each game can be set to be simple enough for a 3 year old or more challenging for those who like to race against the clock (moms & dads!).

Check them out - feedback is appreciated.

    Thanks,

I just found, in my opinion, the BEST KID APP of 2009. It is aimed at kids ages 8-14 years old

they have an impressive line of protective silicone sleeves that fit snuggly over an iPod nano and include a range of hip monster creations, with editions available for both iPod nano 3rd and 4th generations.

    Psyclops.com
users can create and dress their own avatars, mix their own music, and create animated dance videos that can be downloaded onto your iPod for viewing and sharing.

Connect the Bloinks to keep them from going too high! If you enjoy games like Tetris, this game is for you.

    Features:

    Simple, fast gameplay.
Three levels of difficulty: Easy, Medium and Hard.
Earn three Trophies across thirty levels of play.
Share High Scores with friends with the “Brag” function!
Continue to play iPod music in the background during gameplay.
