Scammers are not just from Nigeria. They are in most 3rd world countries that try to make a quick buck.

Two companies that come to mind are edigitalstream.com and superfreehosting.com. All from Pakistan. Their favorite targets are to scam people from US and Canada. They use fake addresses and want to claim they are in the UK.

David...I got one from Stella too. For a while I thought that e-mail thru Facebook might be the route. Then I got Stella's request. Guess nothing is scared! Still - Facebook - is an awesome tool and I sure find it's use valuable in business... so the best I can do is overlook Stella.

Thanks for a great post.

I am afraid that we are only seeing the start of what i believe will be a tidal wave of attempted fraud on all the social networks, not only Facebook. The fraudsters abuse the inherent trust that is present in all social networks to take advantage of people.

If law enforcement in Nigeria was awake they might find this a nice tool to eliminate the scams created in their Country ! I suppose the Lady adds to subscriber stats on Facebook , now if every blogger in the US made a short blurb about her and posted it on Facebook the problem if solvable would be handled !

Well, there you go, first Facebook walls (http://tr.im/ccjo), then phishing scams on Facebook login (http://tr.im/ccjv), now finally mail starts to see some spamming action! This is the inevitable consequence of any form of text mailing, although the privacy adjustments in the account settings can surely help to prevent this?!?!
