louisgray.com: louisgray.com: 10 Things I Wish I Would Do Better On the Web Come 2009

For someone who already gives so much, it's humbling to learn they only want to give more. If I could accomplish a small portion of what you propose here, I would be very satisfied with myself.
I'd love to see you do some audio or video podcasts. I thought you came off quite well on Leo Laporte's show with Jason. The format seems to fit you well. Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Michael, thanks for your comment on the Leo Laporte/Jason podcast. That was fun in the swirl of election night. I look forward to the ReadBurner podcasts starting up again, and maybe, getting a regular one going with the team here. Appreciate it. I know I can always get better.

I suggested the idea a while back about a socialmedian podcast, and Jason seemed open to the idea. I personally think it would be great exposure for the site and a entertaining show to watch/listen to. I suggested taking the top stories from the week(like digg) and inviting the writer, the person who clipped the story, and maybe some people that left thought provoking comments to participate. I know you could have a strong influence in making this happen. Thanks for the reply. It looks like your not waiting until next year to get started on fulfilling your goals:-)

One of my resolutions may be to simply read your posts on a more regular basis .

Lorraine, appreciate your comment. I hope that the team and I can
remain relevant to what it is you're looking to find.

Dang Louis, you're too hard on yourself. I know you love blogging and participating in social media but no one is keeping score on your participation (except maybe you). It's ok to not expect so much from yourself. You already do an amazing job, especially considering you have TWO infants in your life now. We all appreciate your contributions, so don't feel obligated to bump it up to please anyone but yourself.

Lindsay, appreciate your comments. I often see people wondering how we can take care of Matthew and Sarah while maintaining a full-time job and to keep up the blogging and social media activity. But I find it just takes focus and I'm enjoying trying to get the formula right. I feel obligated not just to other folks but to myself as I know I can do better than I have been.

I think this post and its awareness that you could do better is very admiriable - you're not resting on your laurels and can still find ways to improve what many would consider an excellent game. Keep it up!

Thanks Jason. I appreciate your sticking around even though the blog has changed quite a bit from when you first knew me as a contributor to The Apple Blog. You, MG, Steven and I were the B-List, and in my mind, always will be.

This post makes it clear why you are such a popular blogger. The more you do the more you wish to do better. We are all benefiting from your participation so I do hope you recognize that whatever you get done is enough. :-)

These are all great resolutions. The problem / challenge of course is that there are only so many hours in the days for interwebbing!

I particularly related to the point about attempting to comment more directly on blogs. Social media participation on Twitter and FriendFeed and Google Reader definitely has cut into the time I'd normally be doing this for me.

Good stuff Louis. I'm finding myself a bit more Twitter interactive (#3) than I was at the start of the year. I'm doing the Twitter-FriendFeed two-step. Tweet something, then interact on FriendFeed.

    Perfect list.

Michael Fidler said it best: "For someone who already gives so much, it's humbling to learn they only want to give more." I couldn't agree more. Not only are you sharp, you are GENUINE. You do so much for the Web 2.0 community and I am so fortunate to have crossed paths with you. You definitely lead by example and walk the walk. I admire and have so much respect for you. Thank you for all that you do, all that you bring, and all that you WILL bring to us in 2009. Looking forward to next year where hopefully you will be participating more in conferences and panels! YEAH!

When I'm flying through my feed readers, I can usually figure out within a paragraph or two if it's an interesting read. If so, it gets opened up into a new tab, and I move to the next item. Eventually, I'll have a few tabs I can knock through, and if I want to leave a comment, I'm right there to do it. I figure it also rewards the blogger with a page visit for quality content.

I also need to be more active on Twitter. Between a busy summer/fall and the death of GTalk integration, my Twitter use took a massive nosedive this year.
